    Question About:Blank

I have a client where their home page comes up as About:Blank with a search header across the top with porno and such. I have run Adaware, spybot, Cwshredder and Hijackthis to no avail . The system is W2K, IE 6.0 sp1. I am perplexed as to why I can't get this thing removed. It removes it for a short minute but comes back as the Home Page. I have done a google search and come up with a lot of complaints about getting rid of it but nothing concrete. Anyone have any ideas. TIA

    What os?
    Post the hijack log
    Create the log in safemode
clear all temp inet files and cookies objects - if XP/2k login as administrator and then you can actually really delete the temp inet files under docs and settings\user name\local settings
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

Have run AV check with AVG and Trend Housecall. System is clean. NooNoo, as staed in the first post, OS is W2K, as soon as I get back to the client's home, will post the hjt log. I always run in admin and safemode. It's the only way to fly. Cheers.

Could you explain a little further about deleting the files in "safe mode".....it sounds like you are saying that when deleting normally they are still there?

    Overclocked, Welcome To Windrivers

In safe mode you can't hear windows scream!

Seriously, you cannot delete files while they are in use. In safe mode many of the files are no longer in use, so you can delete them. Some files still load and are in use in Safe Mode, but ONLY those files that windows absolutely requires.... Most viral and spyware files are not in use in safe mode.

Some of the better spyware removal apps such as Ad-aware and Spybot S&D will also rescan the computer after reboot to kill apps before they load into memory.
