Win Xp Pro Sound Problems
I had a Hp a305w Pc with a 40 GB HDD I removed it and insalled a 200 GB HDD.
I then installled Win Xp Pro on HDD installation was successful. I noticed that the volume icon was missing on the task bar so i went to device manager to check for any conflict and there were three
Multimedia Audio Controller
SM Bus Controller
Video Controller (VGA) Compitable
I have no trouble using my Ethernet Card.
When I check my volume setp in the control panal everything greyed out.
It also says no audio device.
My mobo is a Trigem Imperial _GLVE 200221218
Any help would be appreciated.

Trigem Imperial Drivers
Download the Video, Audio and Usb drivers from here.
http://www.e4allinc.info/dir1/mother..._downloads.htm
Unzip the drivers, if necessary, and install them. Note, use only the drivers for Windows XP

Huh? You talked about sound problems, not USB problems. So, what is the EXACT problem?

You need to install the motherboard drivers and service pack 1 by the sounds of things.

Multimedia Audio Controller << sound ac97 drivers
SM Bus Controller << motherboard drivers - intel inf
Video Controller << vga or display or graphics driver
Can't look at your link, it is not working, can you check it please?
Installing the drivers should be enough to clear those problems... start with the intel inf motheboard drivers.

2. INF Update Utility [INFINST.EXE]
its part of the install that it performs... download it to a folder you can find say c:\intel driver
double click the downloaded file, follow the prompts.

1. Graphics Driver [WIN2k_XP145.EXE]
on this intel site
hxxp://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df/filter_results.asp?strOSs=44&strTypes=DRV%2CARC%2C UTL&ProductID=757&OSFullName=Windows*+XP+Professio nal&submit=Go%21

use the e4 all links for both the video and the sound. The intel drivers are "reference" drivers, meaning that they only drive the basics... while emachines are not noted for their specialist stuff, it is possible that their driver has been specially written for the emachine.

Why do you want to? You can dual boot or you can remove xp home, but having just sorted this out, I do not understand the reasoning.
