    Unhappy IE Strange Problem

Whenever I am using Internet Explorer, if what ever web site I am on tries to open a new window to go to a new page, it will flash, and then disappear. It is as if I am only allocated one window only when running IE. I am running IE 6.02800.1106. I have tried to uninstall so as to reinstall with no luck. I am not sure how to do a complete reinstall of IE 6 that will replace my existing program. Thanks in advance.......

I am using ADSubtract Pro, Norton Internet Security 2003, NOD32 for Virus protection. Using AdSubtract pro, I removed all cookies, cleaned the browser cache, browser history, search history, and temporary files. Sorry, I should've stated that earlier. I welcome any new ideas.......

What windows version are you using?

    Have you updated at windowsupdate?

In IE try tools, internet options, advanced tab. Is the "reuse windows for launching shortcuts" checked?

I am running XP Pro. I have installed all updates as they became available. I looked to see if "reuse windows for launching shortcuts" was checked. It was! I changed it and got the same results. I changed it back and then changed everything to the default settings. Rebooted and still have the same problem. I think I am back to my original question:"how do I reinstall IE and force file replacement". Thanks for the help.........

I had the same problem on a system and the reinstall of IE failed to fix the issue. But, this solution worked for me.

None of that will clean out spyware that does exactly what you are describing..only spybot.adaware/hijack this are useful in these instances

Try disabling third-party browser extensions in IE.

Open internet options, click the advanced tab, remove the check from "enable third-party browser extensions", click apply and restart your computer. This will stop lots of spyware from using IE and your bandwidth.

If you have a popup blocker running that might stop other IE windows from opening.
