Question Toshiba Satellite 1800-412 DVD playback problems

As I had hi-jacked Yossarian's thread a bit for my problem as it was very similar to his I am now starting my own.

I am unable to play DVD videos properly - jerky picture and bitty sound most of the time, though occasionally it appears OK. Any additional advice appreciated other that that already received.

Full Spyware clearout done with nothing to report as I do it regularly anyway. I ran Norton scan, online Trend Micro scan, Adaware, Spybot, SpywareBlaster, BHO, HijackThis and cwshredder. HiJackThis report below -

Everything there looks legit as far as I can see.

The only other thing I can think of that is affecting performance is the monitor set-up which in Device Manager is listed as Default Monitor, Generic Television and Toshiba Internal 1024x768 Panel. The Generic Television one always shows as the main monitor in System Information though. Eeven if I delete it, it re-appears. Could this be the problem?

I have WinDVD and PowerDVD with the update. Have also tried ViedoLan, but all a with similar problem. Seemed worst with PowerDVD until I closed down everything else so I am inclined to think it is a performance issue rather than hardware fault.
