MSN 6.I and removal
How can I remove MSN Messenger 6.1 from my computer? (PB, EasyNoteC3, Athlon processor, Win XP Home) I have tried using Add/Remove program, also using other advice posted to me by folks on the PB forums...but every time I try to remove MSN my computer either freezes or has massive sulks/throwing fits.....I have to run system restore every time....now I have got my computer working again, I ran scandisk, defrag, a complete virus scan and a spyware scan, which all came up clean and clear......I am not too bothered by this but I would like to remove MSN from my computer as it takes up a lot of time on loading up........Thanks

Welcome to WD sulia .
You basicly can't remove it or need to .
Click 'Start' , hit 'Run'
type 'msconfig' hit Ok
a window will open and hit the last Tab on right
and look for like 'msmsgs' or 'msnmsg' or 'msnmsgs'
and uncheck the box
at bottom hit Apply
and hit Ok
and Ok to restart .
But if your using MSN explore I believe it will restart it msg every time you use MSN explore .
Maybe somebody else here can give you something better .

if you want to remove it check here otherwise you need to disable it in start, outlook express and internet explorer. You will have to redisable it every time you do a windows update that involves ie or oe.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

Messenger drove me nuts too always starting up and logging in.
Here is how to fix it so it will not start unless you want it to.
1. open messenger, tools, options, general, uncheck all the boxes under sign in.
2. Open outlook express, tools, options, general, uncheck automanticly log onto messenger.
3. Last and very important, you must close the contact list in outlook express, or messenger will still open evey time OE starts.

I followed your directions as best I could, but when I restarted the computer again threw hissy fits all over the place, muttered darkly to itself, mimbled, and sulked......sighhhh! I will try again! Never one to stop trying, that's me
