    Question Windows 2000 & Word 2000

Have a customers computer running Win 2000 with Office 2000 Pro installed. Did some work on it the other day removing various spyware, not really a problem, then tried setting up their printer , was using Word to test some docs. Now yesterday they tried to use word and get the error Winword has caused an error, writing log file. This application will be closed.

Have not been able to find the log file it is supposed to be writing, so went ahead and did a repair install of Office, still no joy, although all other Office apps work fine. Went ahead and did an uninstall, then rebooted the computer reinstalled Office, applied service packs but still Word will not run, it keeps giving the same generic message.

Has anyone run across this or hav any suggestions as to what to try next?

    Thanks in advance

Try whacking the normal.dot file and see if that does it..... it will be recreated when you reopen Word....I had something similar one time and that did it for me!

Good luck and let me know if that does it!
Failure is not an option -- its a "feature" of Windows.

Mama never told me geekhood was gonna be like this....

You were right on the money with that PuterGeekGirl, we wacked the normal.dot file and restarted word now all is fine. The customer is very happy, thank you again
