Any fans out there? Probably the first game I've run into which has been supported almost entirely, yet successfully, by the fan base.

Loved the game, so did my brother, the missions kind of got repetitive after some time though and it could have used plenty more weapons and ships. MS did a good job on this one!

Yeah I thought it was a good game too. A little too short and thought it had a lot more potential than it showed.

You'd probably enjoy the mod we're working on now then. We've taken a larger mod (Evolutions) and are continuing work where the original author left off. We're working specifically on the weapon and shield balancing. It makes it a whole new game.

I believe there are several hundred ships in the game now, and an absolutely sick amount of weapons.

Hi,
Im new on the site and having problems installing Freelancer
So as this is the Freelancer thread i thought you guys cud lend me a hand
Basically everytime i try to install Freelancer i get this message :

DLL D:\DIRECTX\DSETUP.DLL is not a valid windows image. Please check
this against your installation diskette

So thats proberly something really simple and obvious but to be honest i
no diderly squat about computers. i also get told that because this is failed the game might not load properly, and i get about 3% of the game installed and it cant do anymore.

Any ideas?

Update your DirectX to at least 9.0b *outside* of Freelancer. Then try again.

There are some trade routes that need fixed, as they can be easily abused, and some other balance issues right out of the gate. Otherwise, Evolutions 1.28 is a great mod.

I'll post up something here & on lancer's reactor when we have our weapon adjustments completed.

Nod. Probably the two best are the Evolution 1.28 and the FR-Rebalance series. Both have neat features. A good merge of the two would be great.

Yep yep. In between bouts of Dawn of War, but yes we're still actively working on our mod for Freelancer.
