Is it just me or is some one else having problems with those $29 modems (MACH II) with a $29 rebate offer. They load up ok and i can test the modem in control panel, But when i go on the internet the modem acts like it never connected to the server (a screaching sound).
Then it says could not connect to the internet check modem. By the way i have 3 of these modems and i can not get any of them to work. I got what i paid for, ha ha ha

These are not the best modems, but usually they work somewhat. Probably need to try to force K56 mode in the extra settings box under advanced in modem properties. Not sure, but I think you can use something like
AT+MS=K56,0. One of the other members here - Reboot - has a whole web page devoted to modems.

I hate PCTEL modem ... because i wont run in my linux. and it is slow in the interent. my 33.6 modem is faster than that!
