    Nvidia Driver update problems

I am some what at a loss as how I should go about updating the Nvidia drivers on my HP Pavilion 513c.

I followed the update instructions provided by Nvidia, basically to uninstall the drivers through add/remove programs and install the new ones. This did not work and I had to use system restore. After installing the new drivers, or so I thought, they were not listed on the add/remove list.

Also, the readme in the Nvidia driver package suggested to navigate the following:

    1. These drivers must be installed by a user with Windows 2000/XP Administrator
privileges. Please consult your system administrator or Microsoft
Windows 2000/XP User's Manual for more information on Administrator
    privileges.

    2. Start Microsoft Windows 2000/XP.

    3. From the Start menu, select Settings.

    4. Select Control Panel.

    5. Select System.

    6. Select Device Manager.

    7. Under Display adapters, select the name of the NVIDIA adapter you have
installed. If you do not see a Display adapters option, or if your NVIDIA
adapter is not listed, under Other Devices, select Video Controller (VGA
    Compatible).

This is not possible as none are listed as suggested. The only thing listed under "Display Adapters" is the Intel Graphics Controller.

I found the location of the drivers in C:\hp\drivers\video\nvidia

Attempts to install the new drivers put them in "C:\NVIDIA\Win2KXP\61.77"
It seems that HP has a different way of doing things.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Stan

With my HP Laptop, I prefer to go with the Drivers that they give on their driver & software page.

BTW the 61.77 drivers are not WHQL certified, try the 61.76

oops, didnt check out the specs on your pc, you have an intel integrated graphics card, emm, then why do you think you have an nvidia card?
Did u put one in yourself?
If you didnt then that means you dont need to update nvidia drivers, you need to update your Intel Graphics Drivers.

Even forgot to Welcome you to WD, So Welcome to WD StanR

    TechZ,

Thank you for your reply and welcome, both are appreciated.

No, nothing has been changed in the computer. I wish I could say yes but...

Now that I realize that I was trying to update something I don't have I feel some what stupid. I mean no wonder they are not listed under Dispaly Adapters.

However, in my feeble defense, I guess I was lead to believe that I did as I found them on the add/remove list. Futhur, when I used a "Driver Update" program on a trial bases it told me that my Nvidia drivers where out of date. I don't think I will purchase the program. I have to wonder what purpose they serve installed on my computer?

This all being said, I again thank you for your solution and advice, I'll stick to the updates on HP.

    Stan
