"My Computer" icon disappeared, how do I get it back?
I like having the My Computer icon on my desktop because I can easily right click on it to go into system properties as well as search files. But one day I noticed that the My Computer icon had just disappeared, its not in th recycling bin. How do i get it back?? I figured out how to make shortcuts to the executible, but I want the real thing back. Because with the shortcut version of it when you right click it you only get the options as if it were any other shortcut, not the old system properties like it used to be, please help! Thanks!

I'm assuming you have either 2000/XP?
Right click the taskbar and choose properties...
Click Start Menu and make sure that the classic Start Menu is selected....
If that doesn't bring it back let us know

the classic start menu was selected, but changing it back to start menu bring the my computer back, but I dont like the format of that way. When I go back to classic start menu it disappears again. Gahh, this is such a minor little thing, but it just bugs me.

Choose your classic start menu..right click anywhere on the desktop and choose properties...choose the customize desktop button..choose the general tab and put a check mark next to my computer, and any other system icons you want on the desktop
