phone calls on computer

Hi,

I have a bt broadband connection to my computer and am using windows xp.

The modem is connected to the computer using USB port and the modem in turn is connected to the phone line.

Is there anyway that I can make a phone call and use the BT line from my computer?

Welcome to Windrivers Phil

Broadband - or adsl in your case, does not actually use the phone line in the way a ordinary modem does... so yes you can make a phone call at the same time, or use a dialup modem at the same time.

Just make sure you have the filters connected so that the broadband and voice signals do not interfere with each other.

I don't think thats what he meant, actually Noo... I think he was asking if he could use some software to hook up a headset to his pc and use the modem to get onto the phone line. Which wouldn't be possible with DSL coz the modem uses completely different sound frequencies, I dont see any way how you could do this with cable either...

dialup modem can use the same line as dsl.... I know because I fax from my dialup modem while being online with dsl.

You could use point to point items like www.skype.com to speak to another with the same app.
