What device(s) do you want to plug into the serial port?

OK, well code 10 is a lack of resources. What are the comport settings for your loader? You need to change the comport settings in bios to match and then figure out what is preventing the use of the resources that the comport needs.

The other thing it could be is that the comport has simply died.... it's rare, but I had one a few months ago.

All resources on newer computers share with each other. You should first of all turn off in bios everything - parallel port, usb, sound, modem, network etc and just leave the comports. Remove them from windows and reboot to reinstall. Do they then show up without the code 10?
If so, re-enable one thing at a time. If not, you need to remove any pci cards and additional drives.
If they still are code 10, then they are almost certainly faulty.

You can get addon pci cards to provide comports...

Hello Molly: At this point the thread you are participating in is about 7 years old. I don't believe any of the PCI cards made today would apply to your question at this time.
It's not the computers that keep having problems, it's the users!!
