    Talking XP SP2 Good?

After browsing down the list of topics, I noticed that no one is saying anything "good" about it, at least that I can find.

While its popular to bash M$, I think they did some good with this release. I reloaded my system clean with SP2 and its running better than it ever has. Actually, it cleared up a nagging issue I had with SP1 where my drive contents would not update when the discs changed. Also, I have yet to get a single pop-up window while surfing.

So, if you're having a "good" experience, share it.

Had RC1, RC2, and now using RTM version on both my work laptop and my home PC.

Very happy with the additional security and the wireless improvements.

Haven't played around with the additional Group Policy settings yet.

Had a issue with one of our web applications and the popup blocker.

after adding our domain to the list of accepted popups it works fine.

No worries. actually i am kind of glad that they addes all the security stuff in there especially since it dosent cause me any problems.

Anyone have any stats as to how much the new security stuff has reduced attacks on home pcs?

I'll bet the amount of viruses lurking on the net will fall when ms give away free av.

I really like the wireless addons on the antivirus section doesn't detect Symantec Corporate 8.1 which seems strange to me could be cause the virus definitions are on the server I suppose. All in all not to bad.

The wireless addition was very welcome as many of my users had trouble understanding how to connect to various WAP's. Now they have little to no problems due to it being a little more user friendly.

One thing I thought was odd was the fact that it removes the "Home" or "Professional" On the startup screen, does anyone have an idea why?

I loaded it up on my machine (Asus A7N8X Deluxe) with no poblems. I have installed it only one two customers machines so far. It worked well. I'm going to wait a little while longer before I start recommending all of my customers load it up. One small issue was that sp2 did not detect Norton AV 2004 was installed on one of the machines I installed it on.

I don't know why they changed the boot logo. I don't see the logic.

I think i've come across my first hiccup with it. I can't use file searching. When I go to start, search, files or folders, no matter what I put in on whatever drive I get a "Search companion had an unrecoverable error".

Guess its time to figure that one out.
