Roller
So, does anyone know a website with directions or could give me directions on how to change out the Face-Down upper roller on an HP Laserjet 4200....
Started taking the thing apart and realized I had no clue what I was doing in changing out a metal piece for a different looking plastic piece.

From HP's PartSurfer website: It has an interactive parts diagram. It usually helps me out.
Also, you might want to check out maintenance and cleaning - HP LaserJet 4200 Printer series It has a couple of good documents that just might help you out.
One last thing, did you get this replacement part from HP or from a third-party vendor? Check HP's parts listing above for the correct part number.
Good Luck!

Sorry - thought I could help you, but I have only ever replaced feed rollers, fusers and transfer rollers in the 4200's.
I would guess you need to pull the top cover, the fuser unit as possibly both side panels to start getting at this exit assembly.

Yeah, I am on HP's forum, these people keep trying to tell me it is one of the small blue feed rollers on the paper trays'. Looks like I am going to have to call them back up, dangit all...

Does it do it when the printer is cycling (like when u 1st turn it on), or only when it is feeding paper?

Well then, when it is cycling, the feed rollers are not moving (the blue rollers in the trays) - so I would definitely say they are out. I would think it would be the fuser unit or your initial guess of the exit rollers - I have seen both make a lot of noise in the hp 5000 and 8000 series.
