Unhappy Problems installing XP on a Hitachi SATA150 hard drive

    Hi,

I decided to format my hard drive and do a clean install of Win XP following a bunch of problems I'd been having. Everything goes fine with the installation (including the 'F6' drivers), but I'm getting the following error message:

    Cannot load file UlSata.sys

If you are installing Windows XP from a CD, make sure the CD is in the drive.

To skip this file, press ESC
    To retry, press ENTER

WARNING - Skipping this file may cause WIndows to work incorrectly (or something)

Thing is, I have checked the floppy disk, and the file is on there!

If I skip the above file, I get the following:

    Cannot load file ptipbm.dll

If you are installing Windows XP from a CD, make sure the CD is in the drive.

WARNING - Skipping this file may cause Windows to work incorrectly...

I skip that file, and get the following:

    Cannot load file UlSata.inf

    blah blah blah

I have checked the floppy disk and all the above files are present!

Anyone??? This is driving me up the wall. I've been trying to fix this for over a week now!

    My specs:

    ASUS A8V Deluxe Wi-Fi Motherboard (socket 939)
    AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (socket 939)
    512MB Corsair XMS PC3200 Memory
    ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
    Onboard sound
    Hitachi 160GB SATA150 HDD
    Sony DVD-ROM
    Sony DVD +/- R/W
    Windows XP Home (SP1)
    420W Power Supply

    Thank you!!

    Welcome to Windrivers fitbabits

Some have reported that they get errors trying to boot from a dvdrw drive - tried using the dvd rom?

Others have found problems when the files where not in the expected directory on the floppy disk even though they appear on the disk.

Also check your xp cd for scratches.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

    Thank you for the reply.

I'm booting from the DVD-ROM drive. Is there any workaround for the problems people have had when the files were not in the expected directory? I think that may be hte problem, but I'm utterly baffled as to how I should fix it!

I have checked the CD and it's scratch-free, which again leads me to my above assumption. I'm *this* close to chucking the thing out the window.

Yes move them out of the directories and put them on the root of the diskette.... where is the txtsetupoem.inf ? Where are the other xp infs?

NooNoo - Thanks again for the reply. I'm all sorted now! I was missing an OEM-specific file that tech support finally sent me!

    Have a grand day!
