pci.sys- 0X07E stop screen on XP install

Hi. This is my first post here, but I've got a tricky problem installing XP Pro SP1 on a new system and need some help...

    supermicro X6DA8-G2
    3.2GHz 800fsb nocona xeons
    2GB kingston DDR2-400 (1024 x 2)
    3 seagate 15k U320 cheetahs
    pny quadro fx 3400 PCi-E
(all other pci cards and non-vital peripherals have been removed)

At the beginning of the install, right after installing my 3rd party adaptec scsi drivers, the install status bar says "starting windows" and, boom, blue screen of death:

A problem has been detected blah blah blah...

    STOP: 0X0000007E (0XC0000005, 0XF748E0BF, 0XF78DA208, 0XF78D9F08)

    pci.sys - Address F748E0BF base at F7487000, Datestamp 3b7d855c

I have tried disabling everything possible in BIOS (I believe...) and have flashed the most current BIOS version as well. Everything in the system has been triple checked for proper placement.
At first I thought this might be a graphics card problem, but it seems to be working perfectly... I say that because after trying two separate genuine full version win xp pro disks, I tried installing an old copy win 2000 pro and everything worked flawlessly!! ...went through with win 2k and added all other hardware and updated drivers with no problems at all.

Anybody have an idea why XP pro is throwing this stop screen?
Could it still be bad hardware when, with Win 2k, the system works no problem?

    Thanks!

Yes, slipstreamed sp1 or sp2 often solves odd problems

    Thanks for this thread.

I too have been having this problem with a similar setup:
    2 x 3.0ghz Xeons.
    X6DA8-G2.
    2 x 512meg Crucial memory.

Stopped on the same driver, but at a differn't memory location.

luckily microsoft has made slipstreaming winxp or 2000 and service packs an easy way to solve these problems... and save some time with installs as well

What isn't clear from your post is whether you have got it fixed or if you still need some help?

    Please Help!

So I did what was posted here. I created a XP Pro SP2 disk and all using nlite. That part worked flawlessly.

However here is the problem: Even though I get past the "blue screen of death" which occured after Windows tried "Starting Windows" , for some reason Windows is telling me that I CAN NOT install XP to a disk that is connected to a PC card.

Is anyone else having this problem?

I had built my first PC. when I tried to install Windos XP i got the blue screen with the error below. I tried to load the slipstream SP1 SP2 then run. Still got the same error. I tried to look this up on Microsoft support but they had nothing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

    Welcome to Windrivers exanvyus

you need to read this and carry out the checks listed. You can test your ram with a downloadable, bootable iso from memtest86+
