Soundtrack problem with DVD player
I tried to listen to a DVD through my headphones and could hear only one track of the soundtrack. I could not hear the voice soundtrack. I could hear all of the music and sound effects but no dialog. I tried many different types of headphones (including ones that had previously worked on this system) but no luck. Music CDs are unaffected. I reinstalled the driver for the DVD without success. All soundtracks are audible when headphones are NOT plugged in. HELP!

Where exactly did you plug the headphones in - the speaker's headphone jack, the dvd player's headphone jack or the green sound card jack?
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

This is on my Dell laptop...there is only one place for the headphone jack. It is next to the microphone jack, but I'm not sure where the jack ultimately attaches.

This may be due to the dvd sound configuration.... most dvd's have 5.1 sound, the cd's straight stereo.
Check in the multimedia applet in control panel, you may find a headphone setting that will sort it out.
