Dvd Rw/cdrw/dvd Rom Driver Not Recognized By Win Xp
wIN XP PRO
520 RAM
AMD 2000MHZ
MAXTOR 80G HD
I just put new NU-DVD RW and SONY CDRW/DVD ROM COMBO to my computer but the drivers for both items are not recognized by Win xp. The bios will recognise both of them without any problem. Nothing in My computer or in divice manager console. However, Win Xp will recognise regular cd drive and sony Cd burner which were there before I put the new ones. Please help
Thanks

What drivers? ATAPI takes care of drivers for optical devices, try updating you chipset drivers (IDE and PCI Bus) it's those that recognise the correct ID for opticals not XP itself.
Just installed without burning software either will behave just as a ROM drive and show as such in XP.

Did you uninstall the previous drives in safe mode?
What exactly does device manager report about the drives?
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

Thanks NooNoo
Nothing is shown on device manager about these two items, Nu DvDwr and Sony CDWR/DvD rom. The old replaced and are working fine CDrom and Burners are recognised on Device manager. Again everything is fine with bios.
Thanks

Have you tried uninstalling the old cd drives and then scan for new hardware?
