Thank God I got laid off!
For the second time in 2 years, I've been laid off.
I really have bad luck, as the first company was sold to GE and this one is consolidating its offices, closing the office here and moving it to Denver. I thought I was screwed again, because I spent 9 months unemployed and working in restaurants for 3 months before I landed this job, but it turned out really good for me.
At first, they offered alot of people here relocation to move to Denver, but I wasn't offered (I've only worked here 8 months, and some others have worked here 10 years). I was really bummed, but I heard rumors that hardly anyone was taking the relocation offers and they needed people now. I asked my boss if I could apply for my position in Denver and she said that would be great. I got the job, along with a nice relocation bonus, $13k more a year and a chance to finish my degree (the schools here have no night, weekend or online classes and I already found 4 colleges there that have them)!
So I'll be moving out of dusty West Texas to Denver, Colorado. If anyone has any advice or tips on where to live, etc, I'd appreciate it.

Congratulations on getting laid off!
I've never been there so I can't tell you where to live at, but if you don't already know how to ski you will want to learn.

I didn't surrender, but they took my horse and made him surrender. They have him pulling a wagon up in Kansas I bet.

I was just in Denver a couple weeks ago, nice clean city and traffic didn't seem that bad when I was there. I look at some apartments guides and the prices seemed average to below average for a city. They have a pretty lively downtown district with a lot of bars and clubs to hangout at and there are a lot of parks in Denver, it just seemed strange to see so many parks. Hope you like Coors, cause that's all there is
And well, there's a first time for everything so here goes. Good job getting laid off you really deserved it
I'd rather be riding my motorcycle

Congrats! I know a few folks who lived in Denver and they loved it.

I don't know, granted I was only there for a week but I was never short of breathe and we were going to mile high stadium up and down to the top of it everyday with no problems and we were not using the escalators either.
