Installing win xp service pack 2
Today I tried to install this win xp service pack 2 but I get error messages as under:
Extraction Failed
Data error(cyclic redundancy check)
Despite my best efforts the file i366/sp2.cab could not be extracted and at this stage the above error message was displayed and this service pack could not be installed.I have requested the vendor to get me a seperate copy of this service pack. In the meantime I want to know how to install this with the available cd.

cyclic redudancy check from a cd usually means the cd itself is scratched or dirty or the drive is dirty or the cable is failing.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

How, is just let it autorun and follow the screen instructions, not complicated.
The complications only start after you take the CD out. Do yourself a favour, have alook on M$ site for software\hardware problems with SP2 and look on the websites of your major components and most used progs. especially if they're getting on a bit, do this prior to installing and you may well avoid any 'issues'.

I had the same mproblem with my service pack 2 disk. All I did was take it out and clean it on my shirt and it works fine now. Try cleaning it.
