PC wont boot up after FireWire installed
Hi all, Got a Skymaster FireWire 1394 2+1 card for my pc which runs XP Home, installed as per instructions but the pc boots to the point where it sees both hard drives and both cd drives then sits and blinks (the curser that is) at me.....what now?

Can you get into the bios setup? If so enable "update ESCD" or "clear NVRAM" save and try again.
What slot did you put it in? Do not use slot 1, try another slot.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

Thanks for the reply, I got into bios features setup by hitting the 'del' key on reboot (correct?) no mention of ESCD or NVRAM to update or clear. Looks like 5 slots on the M/board, I used the middle one.......by the way, the tech kid at the local store got no further

Change the card, it may well be faulty.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."
