    win98 blank cd problem

    the combo drive on my pc accepts all cds and dvds, except the blank ones, which are not recognised on the drive by nero or windows, when i tried to burn on a cdr it asked me to save to the Hard Drive. their are many similar problems on this site but none matching my own i fear, can anyone help?

    Welcome to windrivers mrfeisty. The issue is likely to be nero, as win98 does not natively support cd burning. What version of nero are you running?

    Also, can you provide more info as to the type of system you are running (desktop/laptop, make/model, etc.), especially the make/model of the combo drive.

    ok the dvd rw is NEC DVD-RW ND 1300A
    nero version 5.5.7.1
    windows 98 does not acknowledge that anything is in the drive if it is a blank cd r. so this is normal?

    Your dvdrw has been supported since 5.5.10.9. Download the latest update here http://www.nero.com/en/download_previous.php?vpak=1. Yes, it is normal for 98 not to acknowledge a blank cdr.
