"Can't find system BIOS' hook"
I've a flakey asus p4p800 deluxe and thought id try aflash instaed of afudos to reprogram the eprom..
ive tried versions 217 and 221 both return the message;
ERROR! CANT FIND SYSTEM BIOS HOOK
does it mean that the flahser doesnt recognise the ic?
or something else entirely?

Do not use old version Afudos.exe to flash BIOS. Must use new Afudos.exe which is included in zip file to flash BIOS.
Using ASUSLiveUpdate to flash BIOS,you need to upgrade ASUSLiveupdate to v 5.22.02 or later before flash BIOS.
Please do not use Ezflash for updating this BIOS unless the pre-loaded BIOS is of version 1014 or 1015.
Support new CPUs. Please refer to our website at: http://www.asus.com
Re-arrange memory resource when a total of 4GB memory is installed.
Fix boot order sequence will be changed with certain conditions.
Add beeping alert when powering up without memory.

It means that you used the wrong program. If you use a program other than the one they tell you to use, don't be surprised when it doesn't work. You need to use afudos.
Probability factor of one to one...we have normality, I repeat we have normality. Anything you still can't cope with is therefore your own problem.

It means what utility cannot recognize ASUS BIOS while looking for specific ID codes - ASUS was always making very own BIOSes with "non-standard" I/O ports...
Aflash was designed long time ago and works for an older ASUS motherboards, but now ASUS has significally changed BIOS software and flashing procedure to make it safer for end-users... That utility is simply too old to recognize new BIOSes...

You could download the User Manual here, the instructions are there to use EzFlash
