    Incorrect function

Ok, here is for starters: the specs for my laptop.

    Dell Latitude D600
    Pentium Celeron 1.4 GHZ
    512 MB RAM
    40GB Hdd
ATI Radeon Mobility 9000 32 MB

Ok, so I bought this dvd burner, the LG DVD-R/+R, and an external case. Now when i plug it in to my laptop here, it recognizes it is there., i put in a dvd/cd with data, the burner autoplays it. HOWEVER, when i put in a blank dvd OR cd, no autoplay shows up. i go to click the drive icon, and it says something like incorrect function. PLZ HELP! Thanks

    hi mrchris
because you have put a blank disk in the drive it will not recognize because it is blank! diffrent OS's will report a blank disk in a drive diffrently have you burnt any data onto a blank disk yet?
and what windows are you running?
What dont kill you only makes you stronger!!!!!

Right click on the drive, select properties. Click on the tab "recording" Make sure that "enable cd recording on this drive" is checked.

note: Native drag an drop writing will only work for cd-r disks. dvd-r disks must be written using a third party soft. like nero. Also recording can only be turned on on one drive at a time so if you have any other writeable drives this will turn recording off on them.
