61883.sys driver not found..
Hi Everyone.
I have a Sony HandyCam DCR-TRV350.
I am running Windows XP Pro.
Whenever i plug the camera into the firewire port several things happen:
1) New hardware is detected.
2) It always asks for the location of 61883.sys driver.
I know that this is normally found at c:\windows\system32\drivers\
I have done a search on my pc for the file and it was not found.
I have looked and looked for a url to download this file, and could not
find anything. Did find 1 place that wanted to charge for the download.
The camera will go no farther without the driver. I do have the USB input for
the camera working, but i have a couple of apps that will only capture
from the 1394 port.
Sorry of this a dumb question.
Thanks In Advance.

Welcome to windrivers joe. Have you tried running sfc /scannow? This will check for missing files. Do you have sp2? There were some firewire bugs which sp2 addressed.
Probability factor of one to one...we have normality, I repeat we have normality. Anything you still can't cope with is therefore your own problem.

Hi Hudsonsmith.
I ran sfc /scannow and it ran through, but did not reports anything.
No problems, or messages of any kind.
No I did not install the SP2 from microsoft.
My auto-updates are disabled.
I look on all of my windows cds, mobo cds, everything.
Could not locate a copy of the file.
I read a post that said the file could be found on the Win-ME
cdrom in the drivers6.cab ??
I don't have the cd so I'm not sure.
cheers.
