need a little help with dvd duplicators
A friend needs a dvd duplicator and has seen the Acard 1 to 3 Standalone DVD/CD Duplicator from the following site:-
http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/acata...Section__.html
the controller card it uses is the ARS-2030LD
I had been looking at firwire chains with nero max or disjuggler but the ide to firewire adapters were a little expensive and i think he'd rather a seperate unit..
Have any of you experience with the ARS-2030LD controller?
is it a good reliable option?
Budget is a little tight on this one.. so cant afford to spend to uch.
thanks in advance.

If moneys tight what are you doing buying a duplicator ?
Buy a full sized case & fit all the Writers in that ! ( I've had up to six in mine at once)

The unit you showed me just takes standard IDE writers
Standalone IDE to IDE DVD Copy controller
Chip: ACHIP ARC780
4 IDE channel
Data buffer: 8MB SDRAM
Product interface: IDE
& I just use identical units with Nero (thats ok , though thinking I've only tried up to 3 with that) & diskjuggler previously when I had all six, but that was via scsi.
What volumes are you thinking about ? & how often ? When you get to large volumes you might as well get somebody who specialises & can run to a 10 or more sized unit, or thats the conclusion I came to.

On the direct question I'm using nero 6. 'whatever sub number it is currently or near enough'
Have you thought about say distributing via the web ? much cheaper & easier to do in terms of time I feel .. the client of course can burn their own from this method & save money all around
So I think 100 is gonna take about 4hrs to do, so burnt, labels printed, covers printed & in envelopes done & labelled once you get slick.
It takes 2 minutes to upload an iso, the artwork & a mailing list to some cd or dvd mastering company - so I think it depends how cheap you work as to whether its worth it & if you do it lots, what else you could do & make more, it depends what the cds are for too !

he's copying dvd's and unfortunately only has a 56k modem.
i didnt realise the standard version of nero allowed asyncronous burning.. thought only the max range did it' i use the term asyncronous loosly, but you know what i mean by it.'
thought i better add that web disribution for at least his first job is out of the question.. he's just auhtored a dvd full of clips/stills etc from the last 25 theatre prodctions he and a group of his friends have done. the dvd will be sold/given for free on the 3 nights of the next performance..
though im sure the online method of disribution whould be of interest to him in the future.. hes just retired and set up a small business authoring dvds.. though i may have already said this?? larger jobs whould be to time consuming for him to burn.. and i could always transfer the mpeg myself for him
