The scariest thing Kerry said last night.
"John Kerry found an opportunity last night to praise the Constitution of the United States. Perhaps he should read it before he talks about it. If he has read it he certainly doesn't show it. Last night Kerry said that we have "An unbelievable Constitution with rights that we afford people."
Rights that we afford people? Just who is the "we" he's talking about? If there is a great and glorious "we" out there that "affords" people their rights, then doesn't it stand to reason that that great and glorious "we" can un-afford those rights when the great "we" decides it's appropriate?
And just how do you define "afford?" The dictionary defines the word as "to make available, to provide." So now we know that John Kerry believes that our rights are provided to us by some "we" out there. The great "we" made those rights available to us. How grand. How grateful we are to the grand Imperial We.
Since most Americans were educated in government schools, I don't expect a lot of people to realize this; but our rights; our rights to freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of assembly ... all of our rights were not given to us by our Constitution or by any "we" out there. The people who founded our country and wrote our Constitution felt that these rights belonged to us by virtue of our very existence. The rights were "inalienable," not subject to being recalled by the Imperial We. The Constitution was written to protect those rights, not to grant them. The Constitution was written and ratified by the people to establish a government and to grant certain rights to government, not the other way around. The Constitution specifically says that all rights not granted to government by the people are reserved by the people. We are the "we" .. and we are the ones who empowered government, not the other way around.
John Kerry is not the first president to talk about the Constitution giving us our rights. Bill Clinton was of the same mind. He once talked of the Constitution giving Americans the rights they hold dear. This is a fundamental fault of liberalism. Liberals like John Kerry believe that America is great because of government. They believe that our rights flow from government. To believe that rights flow from government is to believe that these rights can be withheld by government. "

After you and him both wake up from your Democrat hating yet we think we are third party intelligent stupor, you might realize that WE could mean all Americans, from the beginning to know, as we are the constitution and we are the nation and we are also the government. WE are all, We are more important then the constitution, as we are teh government and the governed we have the ability to change the constitution for us, as ideals, morals, times change.

FYI, if you watched the debate you would know that Kerry said something along the lines of "Our rights were endowed by the creator" or something to that effect.
Kerry understands that the rights given to us from whomever must not be breached. You're arguing semantics here and it's kind of silly.

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
Neal Boortz is trying desperately to downplay Senator Kerry with trivial word games. How pathetic.

This is what I've been talking about all along. The Bush administration and his supporters emphasize the superficial aspects of the issues. The Kerry campaign and his supporters look deep into the issues which creates complexity in their views. This is sometimes too difficult for the Bush supporters to comprehend, so instead they attack the superficial aspects.
And the part that REALLY kills me?,... Half of this country is actually foolish enough to buy into this Bush crap! Kerry is telling people over and over and over and over and over again the simple basic truths about Bush. About the Bush lies, the Bush failures, and so forth. Bush comes back with a joke or something, and all of a sudden we have a tight race again. It's absolutely amazing I tell ya. Bush can do whatever he damn well pleases and people will buy into it. Why? I honestly couldn't tell you. I really just don't know what people see in this guy.
Personally,.. I think America is confused and tired of politics in general. You got Clinton lying about the Lewinsky. You got Bush lying about WMD's in Iraq. America doesn't trust these politicians and when it comes time to choose a new president, it just makes it very difficult because you just don't know who to trust anymore. SOMEBODY needs to step up and restore respect and trust to the White House. If we have 4 more years of political drama like the last 4 years,.. I just don't see how America can survive in this new century. I really don't.

So, then is essence, the Constitution is nothing more than another piece of paper to you, subject to the whims of whatever major party is in power at the time.
If for one moment you think you are in control of the current state of government affairs in DC, then you are the one in a stupor.

Dollars? Yes, of course....anything born of nothing but legislative fiat is nothing more that what it started out to be. Whent the US Treasury was given the power to remove precious metals as backing for our currency, then what were we left with? Paper.

No, faith is what carries your money and gives it worth. You might not trust it, but by the mere fact that you continue to use it, you still have faith.
