my laptop wont display time left on the battery

I have an AOpen 1557 laptop, and when i open op the battery icon in the lower left taskbar, it will display the percent of battery left, but it will not display the TIME left. It would be very useful to me to have the time displayed, any ideas on how to fix this? thanks!

I wouldn't think so. Have you ever come upon a utility that estimates "time left" DA? I have never seen one. There are just too many variables taking the juice out of batteries. But, that actually sounds like a good idea.

Displaying the estimated time left on battery power is native to XP and I'm pretty sure previous versions of Windows too RRR.

I just checked on my laptop and it shows it both in the power meter and when you place the cursor over the battery icon.

Question is, which OS are you running coolmandingo? Maybe previous versions of Windows don't have this feature.

I thought that was "percent of battery remaining" emr? Geesh, now I have to go check someone's lappie today.
Nonetheless, I did find this little utility to answer my own previous question:

Keep in mind that the "time remaining" is a rough estimate, though.

It shows both; in XP anyway.

Im using Windows XP, and the battery has never displayed the time left. On my dad's Sony laptop it will display the time left, maybe its something that is just built into the laptop or battery?

If there is an option in the bios to recalibrate the battery like on Dells try that it may be able to reenable the function.

Mine shows both in win2k, and this is the image that came with the laptop, just tweaked to suit my needs. To my knowledge it even is that way on ones that don't come with the image from the manufacturer. I know I didn't install anything special on any of em to get this.

Part of Power Management? I know on the IBM's I load I have to install that seperately......

Failure is not an option -- its a "feature" of Windows.

Mama never told me geekhood was gonna be like this....
