Trigem Santafe-KM motherboard in HP XT983
Hi all,
Does anyone know where I can get the jumper settings for a
Trigem Santafe-KM motherboard? It's the motherboard in a HP
XT983 system.
The cpu that originally came with the board was a 200fsb
Athlon 1400 and it died and since the 200fsb version of
that chip is pretty hard to find, I bought a 266fsb model
of the same Athlon 1400 and the mb detects is as a Athlon
1000.
I'm sure I need to set the board to 133fsb and I found a post
on here about it but the links to the jumper settings was dead.
I also would love to get the newest bios for this board also.
Please respond here or drop me a PM if you can help me out!
Thanks,
Jim

What actually came on the mb was a 200fsb model athlon 1400 but
they are hard to find and I bought a 266fsb model to try out.
From what you see, the board should support a 266fsb cpu shouldn't
it?
Note.....I downloaded the newest bios file and it's zipped but when I execute it with windows xp nothing happens.....any ideas about that?
Thanks,
Jim

if you look at the manual there are 2 versions of that board the first version appears only to support 200 FSB processors [santafe-MVM]
[santafe-MVL] should support 266 FSB... if its got the jumper settings that should enable 266 FSB in order to obtain 266FSB you got to run
pc 133 ram?
Far as the bios, I'd still say if it working use it like it is ... there are download of bios on that site but it mentions use at your own risk.. if you insist on trying the bios make sure the version of the board you got there.

Are you trying to flash the bios from within windows? You need to extract to a floppy and have the appropriate flash utility for the bios.
Probability factor of one to one...we have normality, I repeat we have normality. Anything you still can't cope with is therefore your own problem.

The version of the board is "F" from what I can see on the mb.
The bios file that I downloaded is an exe file like it's zipped and when you double click it to unzip it nothing happens.
Usually bios updates are .rom files that you use the flash utility with.
Thanks,
Jim

have you tried setting the CPU speed from within bios itself? Bios should have a type of governor for the speed of your cpu... as well as the jumper settings, and if the processor was less that 1000 mhz (1GHz) then you should try checking there to see if that's your problem.
