Hotlinks in Hotmail won't work
A very happy Monday to you all!!
I have a customer who is certain that I did this when I installed Norton Internet Security. Hotlinks in her hotmail are blue and underlined, they even "click" in the speakers, but nothing happens.
She also has a Yahoo account, and the links work there. She keeps forgetting that fact because she is convinced that I did something.
Anyway, is there a setting that may have been changed, presumably in Hotmail, that would disable hotlinks?
Thanks, Dean

I know Norton Internet Security (NIS) has some 'features' that will help block popups and ads...I would disable those and see how it reacts. Could also be some kind of script restriction going on...like NIS isn't allowing certain javascript to be run because it thinks it's malicious. In truth, first thing I would do is disable NIS all together and see if it works. If it does, then you know NIS is the problem...if it's still broke then it's probably something else. Hope that gets you in the right direction!

Thanks, Inthewayboy. I've done that... turned off NIS. I am having her forward her hotmail to her Yahoo account. I think that the same link that will not open in hotmail may open in Yahoo, if not, there may be a problem with the link. As near as I can tell there is no java script involved as these are business contacts relaying "interesting webpages" to one another.
Still looking for any security settings in Hotmail that may cause this.

Edit: She forwarded an e-mail from hotmail to yahoo. It arrived with the URL "cold". (not blue and underlined). I also had her forward the same mail to my wife's hotmail account. One link was "hot" the other was "cold", and the hot one worked in my wife's mail box. What is it exactly that makes an URL "hot"?

Hi all. Here is the answer to the question. InTheWayBoy had it pegged. Don't know why when I disabled NIS that the problem didn't go away. However, http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...is&svy=&csm=no here is the answer.
By the way, how do you make this URL into a link? Can you rename it?
Dean
Edit: Ok so it is hot already, just can't see it until it is posted. So how do you change it so that it says "here", but takes you to the URL?
