    Cdrom

    only reads audio cds, only recognizes the drive in windows explorer as an audio drive, replaced with new drive, same symptom.

    What is the make/model of CD-Rom and what system are you running it on [inc OS]?

    opsys: win98 , cdrom: replaced lite-on mod# ltn382 with dynex mod# dxcdr100

    Did you update any software recently?
    Have you installed and or updated the motherboard drivers correctly?
    As both are CD-Roms are you saying they will not read data CD/CD-R/CD-RWs?

    no. when i ran into a problem i just replaced the old with a new bought the next day. no other problems. in device manager it shows my correct model# yet in win explor it only recognizes it as an audio driver. plays music cd fine just can't read any other cds (win98 or game)
