IBM Deskstar 40GB and Abit BE6 overheating?
Does anyone know if there is any problem to run the IBM Deskstar 60GXP 40GB 7200RPM DMA100 on a Abit BE6 mothercard?
My disk allways seem to get to hot and then stop. Im thinking of getting an extern fan, cause the fan in the computer does not seem to cool the disks.

I had a desktar fail because of overheating. Would definitely reccommend a custom hard drive cooling fan available from most good computer hardware stores, also make sure your case layout is such that there is good air circulation, and ensure you have a good case fan fitted.
If your desktar continues to overheat, i'd reccommend getting it swapped under warranty rather than waiting till it conks out.
jfi, i now use a quantum fireball of equivalent specification, and though it runs warm, it doesn't run hot.
