My monitor won't come back on......
I hope someone can help me......a couple of weeks ago my husband decided to restore windows on our computer because we were having some problems.....i tried to install a card making program that wasn't compatible with windows xp...so after he restored windows and took it back to factory, he turned the comp off....then the next day when i tried to turn it on....the tower came on just fine, but the monitor wouldn't.....at all....I checked the cords, connections and everything else i could think of, but nothing worked...a couple of days later after not touching it....the monitor came on all by itself...so we didn't turn it off again, and my cousin came over the use the comp and turned it off when he was done....that was a week ago and the monitor just now came on like 20 minutes ago...again, all by itself....the tower boots up correctly but the monitor just sits there....no sound, no picture, nadda........PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!

I Forgot.............
i forgot to tell you that the reason he restored windows is that he thought that the program i tried to install messed up the comp, because after that he could not install a printer and kept getting an error message..........sorry

I don't think Windows or its re-installation is the problem here.
This looks more like a faulty monitor problem to me.
It could just be a coincidence
Can you borrow someone else's monitor to check?

When you say the monitor does not come on, do you mean that the green or orange light on the front of the monitor does not turn on either? Or, is that on but you have no picture?

Yep, try a different monitor for starters.
Then change the cables, but next time it comes on - check the power settings on XP (Start, Control Panel, Power Options). Set them all to never and see if that helps any.
Naturally check the cable from the PC to the monitor for bent pins as well.
