if processor is working or not?

    Hello all,
How do I know that my processor is functioning or if it is damaged?

Today I got this message :
    serial ch0 master no device
    serial ch1 master no device

real tek vtl81160S/8169 gigabit boot agent
    press shift F10 to configure

when I press shift and F10 I get options and if I choose any of them the pc hang up and cannot continue.

I tried to start with xp cd, after starting the computer stop from doing anything!

Is it possible that the processor is not functioning?

Most likely CPU is O'K - otherwise you wouldn't have any messages... Just only make sure you have installed CPU correctly and have put it on a thermal paste (just a bit)...

The problem you have may be caused by bad memory stick - check it with memory tester (like www.memtest86.com or similar).

The Error message that you are getting is usually associated with a SATA controller.

What is the model number of your mainboard?

Is this the same board you were working on last night?

The mainboard is K8T MSI, and you are right since I am using ATA not SATA drive I got this message(I got it too late )

Is this the same board you were working on last night? yes it is same they were two night from hell, I still feel my head smoking LOL.

You are right 100% right, the problem was in the memory stick. Although I uninstalled it and installed it in the 3 differents slots but it did not work yesterday. Today I changed the place of the memory stick again and suddenly everything is working fine. It seems that some of the pins do not have full contact in the slot and when I moved the memory stick to day the problem is solved.
