    Eq2?

Is anyone playing EQ2 yet, and what are your experiences gamewise and hardware related?

    TIA

OK, I bit, and decided to try EQ2. It is SO crowded, that the competition for MOBS is unbelievably intense. There is almost no communication between players on the servers I tried, and I saw just one group of players actually working as a group, and they seemed clueless.

They have made the experience much more difficult, and the game is very "quest driven", and it is difficult to get out of the "Riverworld" type valley for good alignment type players.

Hardware wise, it is not that bad, and though lag was sometimes an issue, the fact is that the servers were just way too crowded last night.

This is NOT your old Everquest, by any means, though most of the old keyboard commands will work. But the interface as a whole is quite different.

The graphics are absolutely stunning, as are the elf babes.

Was never very big on Evercrack. The first MMORPG I ever played was City of Heroes, and it's still the only one I play now. Just couldn't get into the 'fantasy realm' experience. I'm actually surprised that we haven't had more people in for upgrades and new systems to play this though. Back in the day we'd get 4-10 people a week needing RAM and video upgrades to keep up with the expansion packs.

I suspect you will be seeing some upgrades/new machines related to EQ2, in attempts to solve lag issues, though I suspect the lag is a server side issue.

I was thinking about COH, and I still might do it, but I am going to wait until my other subscriptions fade.

I have never been a fan of these type of games, and I have not played a MMRPG on a regular basis. A friend of mine is trying to decide whether he should keep Everquest 2, Final Fantasy and World of Warcraft (he is beta). I saw all three of these games, and I think World of Warcraft will be the best! (I am really biased since I am a huge fan of the warcraft games and books). Just my opinion!

I, unfortunatly, have played everquest 1 since it was first released. When I started, it had this wonderful feeling of awe, this huge world with friends (whole pen and paper roleplaying group started on the same server back then) and all these options on what to do next. It was an awsome experience back then. End up in a 'raiding' guild (big events requireing 60+ people) and it stops being a game and more of a job you pay to do instead.

EQ2, I must say, sent the same shivers down my spine that EQ1 did over 5 years ago. The graphics are very nice, the interface is a bit cludgy but seems themeable, and the game play is alot faster. And even at 20$ for both games, it's still cheaper then 2 movies a month, which is the only other thing to do in a dead end town. Well, movies, mmorpgs, and foss programs.

eq2 vs warcraft...hmm, I hear it's all about the graphics. WoW is anime style, EQ2 tries for fantasy realism. I heard the user interfaces are abou the same, so is the in game experience.
