PMA update failure
Hi,
I hope someone can help with this problem I have been having with the lite-on sohw1633. the burner will get to ~100% burned then fail on closing the session, but there's no data on the disk. I have a new shuttle sn95g5 ( nvidia chipset ), with XP SP2 (OEM). So the drive has *never* burned a dvd sucessfully.
The firmware for the drive is updated, and am using Nero 6.6.0.1 after a clean uninstall of the 6.3.xv version. The log file, below, shows none of the drives use DMA. However, the drives are shown as using DMA through the Device Manager.
Any help would be much appreciated,
TIA,
Eric

First off, have you tried switching to a different brand of media? Might just be incompatible media.
Its not clear from the log how the devices are connected to each ide channel. It looks like the dvdrw might be the slave on channel 0. Try switching it to be the master on channel 1, with both hd's on channel 0.
Have you tried updating the nvidia chipset drivers?

Hey HudsonSmith,
Thanks for the help. I have burned my first dvd on my new box !
I applied the latest chipset drivers, and changed media from Fuji DVD+R 2x to TDK+R 4x.

Could you please explain in a "step by step" procedure how to fix this ? given that I have exactly the same issue with my CD/DVD/RW LITE-ON (sohw 1633S)?...and i'm nt very good yet in updating this chipset driver... where should I go to do so, and were could I found that particular driver ? , I've windows XP in and nero...
thanks a lot!

Welcome to windrivers gabova. The chipset drivers are specific to particular chipsets, so we would need to know the make and model of your motherboard and/or computer. As far as the issue you are experiencing, have you tried switching to another brand of media? I would eliminate that as the cause before doing anything else.
