    Clear Channel must die

Well Houston has always sucked major #@$##(@&* when it came to radio. Our alternative station is ho-hum. But we did have the longest running Rock station at over 30 years. Well last week Clear Channel decided that this city, the fourth largest in the US, didn't need it's single rock station and would be better served with a hip-hop Tejano station. Sweet jeebus, hip-hop tejano, it isn't like we already have 2 top 40 stations, 4 hip-hop stations, and 10 tejano/hispanic stations. And as they own XM, I am honestly looking at Surieus(sp?) as I can't remember the last time I heard new music. Crap, our alternative rock station is now playing Metallica?????

The biggest loss for me is that I don't have anything to listen to in the morning. Noone plays music, and Walton and Johnson were by far the best radio morning crew I have ever heard.

It's not the first time a radio station has changed and it sure won't be the last. Clear Channel or whoever owns the station. Radio is a cutthroat business; ratings are everything and if you don't get them, you get the pink slip.

Here in Ottawa, the country station was changed into a teenie-bopper station and the heavy metal station was changed into a country station. Boy, I pity those heavy-metal fans who tuned into their usual frequency that morning. I still don't think they've recovered from that trauma.

Yup,.. thanks to Clear Channel (heavily influenced by Michael Powell and the FCC) cleaning up the air waves of all the filthy rock stations,.. I no longer have 92.3 KSJO. After 30 years of the heaviest hitting rock in the universe,.. been listening since I was a young lad,.. and now it's a spanish station. The only thing left over here is Live 105 (105.3). They are alternative rock which I guess is better than nothing. The thing that keeps them alive is Howard Stern. But with him going to Sirrius,.. they will probably fall too. Luckily they are not owned by Clear Channel,.. so maybe they have a fighting change. We'll see.

Sirius should really hold some adds and let people out there know that XM is clear channel and Sirius is the route to go to get rid of clear channel

That, or spend time streaming feeds from Shoutcast.

So Clear Channel should run their business into the ground because you don't get your music?

While I do agree that there are issues with clear channel, I will always have XM over Sirius. XM has better music, more variety, and better comedy channels. Just my opinion.
