READ: MS Drops Windows 2000 SP5, only SP4 and an Update Rollup
- According to WindowsITPro, the Update Rollup will contain all security-related updates produced for Windows 2000 between SP4 and the time when Microsoft finalizes the contents of the Update Rollup, and a small number of important non-security updates. Because Microsoft believes the Update Rollup will better meet the needs of customers than a new service pack, there will not be a Service Pack 5 (SP5) for Windows 2000.
Therefore, SP4 becomes the final service pack for Windows 2000.
So, theyre getting everyone to slowly move to XP and Sever 2K3, maybe if they really aggressively priced the Update versions, they could get more people to move.

I wondered if they would pull some stunt like this.

SP, rollup, whatever they wanna call it. It would just be nice to be bundled into one simple EXE so that I don't have to download 400,000 patches every time.

It's bound to happen soon after the rollup's release.

Just use AutoPatcher 2K and you can just have 1 exe with all the updates.
