hard drive removal
Hi all. I have a toshiba satellite 1805-S203 here and a spare HD for it. Problem is the Toshiba site will not let me see how to dismantel to replace the hard drive. Any help will help before I get out a hammer and pry bar.

Ha. Yeah, some laptops are like bank vaults. Tell ya what; one of our moderators has an extensive collection of both knowledge and manuals. PM Damned_Angel, or, he may just check in himself here: he usually does anyway.

Should be removed from the side of the unit. Flip the unit over, on the side opposite from the battery there should be 1 screw holding a plastic door. Remove this screw and the door. There will be another screw securing the hard drive cage to the notebook. Remove that and pull the drive cage and drive out.

Hey many thanks both of you. Unfortunately the HD they gave me isn't the right drive at all! I was suspicious when I was handed the drive. But your advice was right on....as usual.
Now my question is why is Toshiba so secretive as to where it is?

They want you to ship it to them or one of their "authorized repair facilities".
