[RESOLVED] network card slow loading of windows
i have an ABIT ka7-100 motherboard with a athlon 700. i install my linksys LNE 10/100 lan card and when it goes to load windows. it takes like a whole minute or two to load windows it just stays on the win 98 screen then loads after the min or two, when before or without it installed it loads in 15 seconds.

Is the machine hooked up to a network? NICs usually slow down windows bootup. Try removing any uneeded network protocalls like Netbui and IPX - just leave TCP/IP.

Also, Your nic maybe looking for a DHCP server, which is pointless if you are not on a network. If you not on a network set the ip to static and set it to something like 128.129.130.1

set Client for ms networks to do a quick logon, cures it right there.

If you have TCP/IP enable make sure you assing it an IP address, or remove it. This should do it.
