Dell Inspiron 2650 Dark Screen
My Dell Inspiron 2650 has a very dark screen when I power it up. I can make out the images slightly, but can't do anything with it. We have tried plugging it into an external monitor, replacing the motherboard (as per Dell), and various other trouble shooting techniques suggested by Dell--but nothing has helped. I plan to contact Dell again, but hoped their was another solution, as I have spent countless hours on the phone with them, and they have not been of much help. My warranty has expired, yet they have sent me a new motherboard and cd rom drive (??) because of past mistakes on their part to reconcile an issue with my memory and a "blue screen" coming up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Amy
ps--I have searched online a bit and it looks like others have had similar problems, and have changed their "display inverter"--is this a possibility?

Welcome to WinDrivers forum amy.
Sorry to hear your story. Sound like you've gotten the latest dose of Dell "support".
Listen, we have a person here who specialises in laptops and lcd's. I'll PM Damned Angel here at wd and ask for his help. Let's hope it is just the FL inverter.

If you can make out text, but it is very dim, then it is definatly a FL inverter issue. Depending on Dell's parts listings, they may only replace it as part of a display module, which normally includes the whole LCD display as well as the FL inverter. If they can't or won't give you one, you should be able to find places to order one online via google.
