only half page prints
Have an epson Stylus Color 880 here, O/S is XP Pro. Problem started when I installed my Microtek 4800 scanner. Now the top half of a page prints, printer pauses then coughs out the rest of the sheet unprinted. I have reinstalled the printer drivers and still no change. Any clue where I go now to straighten this out? It is a fairly fresh install of XP and seemed to print fine till I wanted to scan some pics.

Try this first:
Is there a printer self test to determine if a problem is caused by the printer?
A:
You can run a self test on the printer to determine whether a problem comes from the printer or some other source. Follow these steps to run the printer check:
1. Make sure both the printer and computer are turned off.
2. Disconnect the interface cable from the printer.
3. Make sure paper is loaded in the printer.
4. Hold down the Load/Eject button, then press and release the power button. Continue holding down the Load/Eject button until the power light starts to flash, then release it. The printer prints one page showing its ROM version number, ink counter, and a nozzle check pattern. If the pattern has gaps in its dots, you need to clean the print head.
5. To end the check, turn off the printer after it prints the check page. Then reconnect the interface cable and turn on your printer and computer. If the check page prints, the problem probably lies in your software settings, the interface cable, or your computer. If the check page doesn't print, you should contact EPSON technical support.

That only prints a small amount of data on the top of the page. Not where the problem lies! I ran that test anyhow just for grins and the print test works but still problem in other proggy's

Still no fix here...I E-mailed Epson support and got a reply telling me to remove software, files and references in registry. Followed their instructions to the letter and still no good. Any help here?

It Is Dead
Well, after days of pulling my hair out and going 'round with Epson techless support I have found that in fact the printer itself is dead...Just happened to go at same time as sanner install. And to think I fought hard cause I thought I had some setting wrong. I tried the printer on my laptop and it did the same thing. Then I pulled out an old LPT cable and tried it in that mode. Printer is toast. Worst thing is I just bought new ink for it!
So Santa's gonna have to bring me a new printer!
