need help.
hi wizzards,I just upgrade my cpu from 2600+ to 3200+. and it would not run on higher then 2500+/166 .? when I try to get to work at 3200 it just restart it self when it start to load windows? I did not touch anything other then changing the cpu and try to change the frequency fron 166 to 200mhz. any idear why?

OK 2 things come to mind right off
1: is ther a jumper on the board which needs moving? like 100/133/166/200
2: Also make sure its not the ram speed you are moving. Be sure it is the FSB
Another thing you may have to reset the bios and then let it auto detect the new chip and then reset your other settings.

well I have reset the bios, and I still have the same result? it only run at 2500+, when I try to put up CPU external frequency at 200 MHZ so it run at 3200+ it just restart? what am I doing wrong?

ok I got it to run at the speed, but now I have an voice error message when turn my pc, cpu faile fsb test? any idear m8?

Just an idea - is there any chance that you have purchased a re-badged CPU that is really a 2500+? Was it a retail CPU? Can you return it?
It was common (more so than now) some time ago to recieve CPU's that were "altered" to appear as a faster CPU than they really are, with the CPU failing the FSB test this could be a possibility.
Also - how is your HSF situation? Any chance that you are overheating? The faster speed, the more heat generated (on same core.) This does not exactly corrospond to your error message, but may also be an issue.

Were did you get the proccessor ? from ebay or other auction site ?
