    Angry Plug and Play Enumerator

On re-installing XP I lost the Device Manager/Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator.
I have restored this device which enabled my on board sound card to work.
However each time I re-boot the Enumerator fails.
I either have to Update Driver or fall back to the previous driver to get sound again.

    The drivers used are
    streamci.dll
    swenum.sys.

If I roll back to the previous driver config (which uses the same pair) it works again until the next re-boot.
Compared to another XP machine the registry entries appear to be identical.
Why doesnt this device hold the original settings ???

Make/model of motherboard and/or computer please.
Probability factor of one to one...we have normality, I repeat we have normality. Anything you still can't cope with is therefore your own problem.

    M/B = Gigabyte GA-7VT600(L)
    AMD 2600GHz

Problem occurred since I had to re-install XP Home due to boot-up failure.
I am at a loss to know why drivers will not lock. As I said before if I roll back etc, I can play my Cd`s etc perfectly OK.
On boot-up, we start all over again.

Try installing the latest via 4in1 chipset drivers: http://www.viaarena.com/downloads/dr...n1_v455vp1.zip
If that doesn't help, try the latest realtek audio driver: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&Software=True

Good try, but fault persists on both driver downloads.
Strange thing was the "Via" install insisted that my on-board sound chip was not enabled in the BIOS - which it was.
I overcame this not by running its set-up, but by pointing the driver update to its inf file.
Installed OK but didnt clear my problem
