    XM or Sirius?

Does anybody here subscribe to either of these? I've been thinking about getting sattellite radio for a while now because ..well because Boston radio sucks a$$. It's the same repetitive crap every day-same songs, same topics on talk radio, even the f'n commercials are the same.

I got plenty of cds, I just want more to choose from.

So, if you got an opinion about sattellite radio, let's hear it.

i've got XM and i really like it, its way better than FM/AM radio. i haven't tried Sirius so i can't comment on them, but they did sign Howard Stern to that big contract, if thats something you're interested in

I'd go with XM just to get away from Stern. He sucks a$$, and I don't think he's worth the support!

Go Sirious, the reason your radio sucks is because of Clear Channel, which is also XM, so stay away

I get a bunch of Sirrius radio stations with my Dish Network. Definately a nice way to go. Deeper Album cuts, All Elvis, Holiday music, Reggae, music from the different decades, it's all there. Strong signal, clean sound. I do hear that they suffer from signal loss in some cities from the shyscrapers and in tunnels though.

Took the words right out of my mouth... ClearChannel is a Microsoft-like monopoly. I don't want to give them any more channels into my own life. If i had the money I'd get Sirious.

The stereo in my car is Sirius compatible but I'm looking out for a unit that I can use in the car and in the house. I don't care about the monthly fee, I just don't want to spend a fortune on receivers.

But isn't that also true about FM radio? And on FM you don't get near the choices. Honestly, both solutions, Serius and XM are nice, I just can't bring myself to pay service for my car radio...it's the principal of the matter.

“It’s the principalities!”, anyone want to tell me what movie I recall that from? It’s now stuck in my head and wont purge until I can respond with a valid movie title…

I've had XM for about 4 months, and it's friggin' great.

    - decades (60's 70's 80's 90's)
    - many flavors of rock (old, new, heavy, heavier....)
    - many flavors of hip-hop/rap/r&b
    - many flavors of country
    - BLUEGRASS channel !!
    - kids channels
    - talk radio (left, right, in-between)
    - sports (ESPN, NASCAR, ACC, PAC-10, MLB next year!!)
    - news channels (CNN, MSNBC, ABC.....)
    - local traffic for many major cities (comes in real handy in the DC area)
    + much more

    And the best of all:

XM Comedy Channel 150 - Uncensored all day, many accidents were almost caused by listening to it.

Plus, it's cheaper than Sirius (didn't they file for bankrupcy a few times?).

The only downside is when I drive something other than my Honda anywhere. Back to regular FM!!!! It's like going back to dial-up...........

But I'm real close to getting the portable receiver, which also has 5 hrs of record time on it.

If you're interested, I put in an Alpine in my Honda, which has an XM tuner built in, along with AM/FM and CD. No add-on garbage, plus it has a port for an iPod adapter, which you can control from the head-unit itself.

In my opinion the quality of Sirius is betterr than XM. What I mean by that is the quality of music and this is why I feel XM is cheaper than Sirius. I mean you have to pay for quality. Stern has nothing to do with the decision in fact I feel that if Stern can do whatever he wants without worrying about the FCC it will take away from his show and will not be entertaining anymore. I have to admit the last year or so of Bush bashing has rendered his show totally lacking of entertainment.
