    No sound after formatting and restoring win98se.

    Hi can anyone help,
    I've just reinstalled win98se after formatting and now have no sound. Previous to this I had sound. Sound device is SoundMax Analogue Devices (On board sound card). Have reinstalled sound drivers. Windows has accepted drivers and shows no fault in system/hardware devices. Speaker symbol does not appear in tray. Bios settings show no where for audio configuration. Pc is Hp Invent. Error shows on restart " Audio not responding run setup and reset configuration". Have run the proper SoundMax setup disc.This doesnt help. Please help.

    please give us the make/model of the computer , or the make / model of the motherboard ,

    d/load tyhis proggy http://www.snapfiles.com/get/everest.html , this will tell you the make/mfg of the board , and tell you which sound device is fitted

    get back to us with the answers , and someone will give you more advice,

    ok , goto http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...p?Prod_nm=810e* , and look at this page , on the right is a utiliy to ID your board , then click on the correct model , and get the drivers,
