Firewire problem!

I bought a USB + firewire combo card by ASound using ALi chipset M5271. There wasnt any problem with the USB 2.0 ports but when I connect the firewire port to my H/disk enclosure, it hangs. HELP

If you can ever get to the ali website ( www.ali.com.tw seems to be down at the moment), download their USB drivers (only the Ali drivers will work). Allot of people have issues with cards based on that chipset, there are allot of systems and hardware components that have conflicts with it. If you have the ability to return the card for a different make/model, I advise doing so. Get anything but a ALI based card.
