Help Me! - Wireless Card Ain't Working Like Before - Help!

hi guays! I can't connect to the net. It worked perfectly before but it doesnt\'t anymore. Even though my driver says it's working perfectly. The monitor icon (that looks like a monitor) in the system tray doesn't have an 'X' and it doesn't flash like before to indicate that it's working.

I tried to uninstall the driver and roll back to the one before but when I do that it tells me that a previous driver wasn't found. Also, it tells me to insert a CD to update to the one I'm already trying to get rid of.

I got XP Pro and am using network wireless card driver: intel, 12/19/2007 - ver: 9.0.4.39.

What must I do?? How do I fix this, or, how do I uninstall this driver once and for all?

    Welcome to Windrivers obla

Where is the wireless access point you are trying to connect to? Have you rebooted the wireless router?

Hello, noonoo. Glad you replied. The access point is in my cousin's house which is currently not accessible. He's on a long xmas vacation and there's no way I can get inside.

I just want to uninstall my present wireless driver and install the old one I had. But, like I said before, my computer doesn't let me uninstall the driver. When I try to uninstall it, it asks me to insert a CD to do that. I never got this driver form a CD... I downloaded it from the net. Is there any way that I can uninstall this driver??

Hi noonoo. The answer to your question is yes. I've tried to uninstall it from device manager, but like I've said twice before, it doesn't allow me the luxury of doing that. It says that it needs a CD to uninstall it.. weird, but true.

    What do I do now?

Hello Obla, You could pull your cousin`s power meter and then put back in.
    That will reboot router
Last thing I remember, running for the door,
I had to find the passage back to the place

Hi there and thanks for the reply. If you had read my post thoroughly, you would've come across the fact that I can't gain access into my cousin's house.

Hi noonoo. Hope... it's not listed in the add/remove programs either. Any other ideas?

Boot to safe mode, attempt to uninstall the card. If it won't, shut down and physically remove the card.

Hi, noonoo. My card is integreted into my motherboard on my laptop. So, I can't do as you've suggested. Any other suggestions?

Most laptops it isn't - it's a separate mini pci card usually accessible from one of the bottom panels. Be careful removing the aerial though.

Alternatively back up and restore to factory defaults.

hey noonoo... I got good news. My problem wasn't with the wireless card... it was lack of strong signal strength. When my cousin came back he had exposed the antenna which made the signal grow stronger and detectable on my wireless. Crazy.
