Floppy disk drive

I have an xp home computer and when I put a disk in the drive it comes up no disk in .I am using verbatim disks sometimes it may take one and they are all out the same box. sometimes it comes up disk needs formatting but it wont do it can you help

Test the disks in a different PC, or get a new floppy drive and cable to test out the possibility that you have a failing floppy drive...until you rule these things out, you have some very potent variables looming...

Wow this is a pretty generic question

1. Perhaps the disks are just faulty and you bought a bad box
2. Perhaps the drive if going south (dying)
3. Perhaps you have some spy ware and it's affecting the PC.
4. Perhaps it's a virus
5. perhaps the Motherboard is dying
6. perhaps the floppy cable is just loose or even defective

It could anything...my bet, just a bad box of disks...I don't like verbatim disks
I only use sony of fuji 2HD disks, black, w/ metal guard...man I sound like Forrest Gump ("I only use my Flex o-Lite ping pong paddle")

Time to invest in a USB Jump Drive
