Google use

I've never really found how advanced google searches work, I couldn't find the info on google.

For example, what I mean is, on eBay if I want to find items that contain "wifi" or "wireless", "router" but not "dlink", I would enter:
(wifi,wireless) router -dlink

This was clearly explained on ebay, but I can't find the syntax for google, by experimenting, I think it goes like:
(wifi OR wireless) router -dlink

Is this right? Is there a page on google that explains their syntax? If there is they sure make it hard to find.

Between these two I pretty much find everything I need.

or what I do is use the Google Toolbar and most of the features are there. Its true, nobody ever uses technology to its full potential. But we always want more.

thanks rgharper, I've always used the standard boolean operators as a throw back to using yahoo long ago. But I never knew, or looked, where google listed them.

Thanks, but I dont see how or if you can you parenthesis as in my example, what if I want a search that contains "router" and also contains either "wifi" or "wireless"? Can I use parenthesis for that as in my above example with the ebay search?

Also, what if I want a word that near another? I didnt find that.

Looks like you're limited to what I found. Apparently Google doesn't offer the search parameters you're looking for.

you want to use this link he posted http://www.google.com/help/refinesearch.html

for example...

notice a search on ~wireless router

returns bolded keyword synonyms like 802.11

same with ~wifi router

you could also use

wifi OR wireless +router

"wifi router" OR "wireless router"
